KANGAROOTS

Kangaroots began in 1993 as a concept with the intention of combining and sharing art, craft & music with lifestyle. 
At the beginning, it consisted of leather work, jewellery making, painting, sculpture, the making of musical instruments and music.

The discovery of permaculture in 1999 in Australia , added a whole new dimension to the story.


This new knowledge had since, naturally mixed into his work and life style, and grew into different projects, creating a whole which is today : 
Kangaroots-Permaculture

Laurent Schlup

was born in Switzerland in 1973 and spent 4 years of his childhood in Madagascar. 
In 1993 he left Switzerland, which led him to 19 years of extensive travel throughout the world, which greatly inspired him to create numerous artistic projects such as paintings, sculptures, craft and music.

He now lives in Australia where he discovered Permaculture in 1999 and completed his Permaculture design certificate (PDC) in april 2005.
 
Now working as a Permaculture designer, consultant and teacher, under Kangaroots-Permaculture

Qualifications:

- Permaculture Design Certificate (P.D.C.) (with Rick and Naomie Coleman, Southern Cross Permaculture Institute
  Australia)
- Certificate IV in assessment and workplace training (with Janet Millington and Robin Clayfield, 
  Crystal Waters, National  qualification ORTUS Australia)
- Certified by the Permaculture Research Institute of Australia to have completed:
                - Permaculure Project Aid Worker course (with Geoff Lawton and Rosemary Morrow)
                - Permaculture Teacher Training course (with Geoff Lawton)
                - Permaculture Earthworks course (with Geoff Lawton)
- Also completed a Community Food Self-Reliance course (with Robina McCurdy)


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 10 years of diverse experience in:

- Tree planting for LandCare Australia (farm forestry)
- Private tree planting and rainforest regeneration work ( Australia )
- Private landscaping work (Australia)
- Nursery work with Tropical Palms and flowers ( Nth Australia)
- Nursery work with Tropical fruit trees (Australia)
- Creation of more than a dozen productive gardens (Switzerland, Australia)
- Permaculture design for clients (Australia)
- Permaculture earthwork for clients (Switzerland)
- Teaching permaculture courses (Switzerland)
- Conferences on permaculture and permaculture earthwork (Belgium, Switzerland)
- 4 x 6 month periods of Alpage (shepherding) (Switzerland)
 (Cows, heffers, calfs, goats, chicken husbandry, cheese making, and farm management)
 
Prior experience: Carpentry, building, renovation and painting. 
Also completed a "Federal Capacity Certificate" in screenprinting, at the "Romande Graphic Art School" in Lausanne (+10 years of professional experience)
